Model house, Punjagutta

The following students from MJCET along with Major Dr. Shiva Kiran and Mr. Mrinal Gour (Asst. Prof. Dept. of Civil Engg, MJCET) visited the area near Model house, Punjagutta on 15/10/2017 at 7 AM to address the problem of water impounding in the surroundings due to rainfall.

A first glance at the entire stretch revealed the following flaws:

• The entire area was filled with pot-holes
• Lack of proper slope
• People were throwing waste indiscriminately in the area
• The storm-water drains were overflowing probably due to blockage
• The storm-water overflowing from the drains was getting mixed with the domestic sewage pipe network
• We attempted calling the civic bodies (GHMC & GHWWSSB) but the person on the other side was not helpful except for some reassurance which was not convincing.
• The shopkeepers and sweepers complained that this problem has been recurring for the past decade.
